Coach Xander began swimming in 2009 in Oro Valley, Arizona. He quickly developed a passion and a love for it and by 2015 became a nationally ranked age group swimmer and 10x record holder for the city of Tucson. In 2018, Xander was part of Canyon Del Oro’s first High School State Championships team, the program’s first win in school history.
In the fall of 2021, Xander moved to Flagstaff, where he joined the NAU Club Swim Team. By fall of 2022, Xander became head coach of the program, which led to his involvement as NAU Swimming & Diving’s volunteer assistant coach. Coach Xander helped lead the NAU women to their 12th and 13th consecutive conference championship, with all his athletes achieving PB’s at the 2025 WAC and 2026 MPSF Championship meets.
His age group coaching experience came from the LJAX swim team, the Flagstaff Snow Sharks, where he coached the Bronze and Senior groups and ran the learn to swim program, The Minnow School. He enjoys working with kids of all ages and helping foster their love for the sport and belief in themselves.
He has gotten to know a lot of the JSC swimmers through his time as one of the lead coaches of the Nike Swim Camps the last three years, and is thrilled to be able to join a team with such great coaching and a culture of excellence and innovation. Coach Xander is enthusiastic, positive, and a massive nerd of the sport, and excited to be part of the JSC family!
