The Maya Schulder Rising Star Award
The Maya Schulder Award is presented to a rising star within the JCC community who generously shares their time, talent, and skills to help transform the lives of our families. It is our pleasure to honor Erika Strempel with this award.
Maya Schulder’s connection to the JCC began early, attending preschool at The J and later participating regularly in Youth Theater and the Club J afterschool program. She felt a deep and lasting connection to the building and its community.
Maya passed away on June 8, 2016, during a trip to Israel. She was a shining light who left a meaningful and lasting impression on all who knew her. Maya brought out the best in others and will always be remembered for her intelligence, her talent, and her remarkable willingness to share her authentic self with the world.
