Camp has ended, school is starting, who knows if we will have a monsoon season, football is right around the corner and things are rocking here at The J.

 

Camp

A very big thank you to all of you who participated and entrusted us with creating a terrific and safe summer experience. And thank you to all of our members for managing a very high energy but noisy summer at The J. It is appreciated.

End of Season Splash Party

Our season ending summer splash party is Sunday, August 30 from 11am-1pm. As always there is no cost and the DJ, activities food and drink are all included. It is an end of summer bash! Click here to register or contact the membership desk at 480-481-7090.

Parking Lot

Please remember lots of people (including a ton of kids) walk in the lot. So:

  • Please stay off your phones when driving in and out of the facility.
  • The stop signs are there for a reason. So, please stop!
  • And please remember if leaving via the Sweetwater exit it is left turn only.

Club J

Our Club J afterschool program has started. With some incredible new enrichment classes and add-ons, it is different and better than ever. It is not too late to jump onboard. Contact Dylan for information.

Membership

Know someone who just might be interested in joining The J? Bring them and we will gladly provide them a guest pass to “try us out.” When (yes, being positive😊) they join and let us know that you referred them, you will receive one month of membership at no cost, a $50 account credit, and 5 additional guest passes. A true win-win!!

J Gala 2026

Our annual Gala; “Midnight in Monte Carlo is set for December 5 here at The J. Barry Markson is the Irv Shuman Award recipient and Erika Strempel the Maya Schulder rising star honoree. With extraordinary honorees, great entertainment (mentalist Jason Suran), a terrific afterparty and lots of extras, it will be a great, great night. The event is chaired by Tiffani and Dan Bachus, Michelle and Bryan Kort, and Jennifer and Steven Schwarz. Sponsorship opportunities are available (contact Andrea). Early Childhood, Camp + More

Voting for the Jewish News Reader Choice Awards opens August 13. Our Alison Hendeles Early Childhood Center and Shemesh Day Camp our two of our programs that are nominated, so if you’ve had a great experience, get your vote in here 😊.

Fitness

The weight room and personal training has been rocking. Just a few reminders:

  • Please wear the appropriate attire including closed toe shoes
  • Weight room etiquette – if you put plates on a bar or machine, please remove them when you are done and re-rack appropriately.
  • Please be considerate of each other – do not take calls, text, etc. while sitting on a piece of equipment.

Jay Jacobs
Jay is the Valley of the Sun JCC Chief Executive Officer and The J is a way of life for him. He has been involved with the movement for more than 40 years and brings his passion for The J and all it represents for the community to his work in creating a true “center for life.” Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Jay is a die-hard Steelers and Penn State fan, so steer clear if they lose. He also enjoys running, hiking, and backyard living.
