Time is flying as it is very hard to believe that we are at the halfway point of our summer camp program.

With that, a few reminders to note:

Camp

• During drop off (8:30-9:30am) you will not be able to enter/exit the parking lot coming off Sweetwater Rd. Also please be aware the parking lot will be busier than normal during drop-off and pick-up (3:30-4:15pm) so please drive cautiously. Camp parents, please remember when leaving on Sweetwater it is left turn only coming out of our parking lot.
• The pool changing rooms will be camp only from 8:30am-3:30pm.
• The upstairs restrooms by the J Kitchen will be the camp restrooms.

Parking Lot: Remember lots of people walking the parking lot (including many, many kids) so:

• Please stay off your phones when driving in and out of the facility.
• The stop signs are there for a reason. So, please stop unless we are directing traffic and waving you through.
• If we are directing traffic, please adhere to what we are asking you to do. Our goal is to get you in and out of the lot as safely and efficiently as possible. Let us know which way you need to go by using your turn signals.
• When backing out of a parking spot, please use your mirrors to ensure the car next to you does not have doors open, people standing, etc.

Speaking of camp, it is still not too late to register for any of the remaining four weeks as limited spots are available.

Aquatics

This is a great time to think about summer fun in the sun and water safety. Whether your child needs to learn to swim or improve their current level, our aquatics team can meet your needs. Contact Pam at pamh@valleyofthesunj.org to get started. We also offer swim team and adult lessons.

Membership

We know there is nothing better than word-of-mouth marketing. To help you help market us, for every member you refer (must sign up for a 12month membership) you will receive one month of membership at no cost, a $50 account credit, and 5 additional guest passes. It is that simple. Please make sure they provide your name as the referral when joining. The new member you refer will receive a free month, waived registration fee, and a $50 credit.

Please remember to bring your membership card when using The J. if you happen to forget it, we will ask for a photo ID. Please remember our security team is only “doing their job” when asking. Also, if you are bringing a guest, please note the following:

• If they are 18 and older they must have a valid photo ID.
• The number of visits for an in-town guest is three per year and the member must remain in the building during his/her visit.
• All guests are required to sign a waiver at the membership desk (parents for those under 18).

JCC Gala

Our annual Gala; “Midnight in Monte Carlo” is set for December 5 here at The J. Barry Markson is The Irv Shuman Award recipient and Erika Strempel, The Maya Schulder Rising Star honoree. With extraordinary honorees, great entertainment which includes mentalist, Jason Suran, a terrific afterparty and lots of extras, it will be a great, great night. The event is chaired by Tiffani and Dan Bachus, Michelle and Bryan Kort, and Jennifer and Steven Schwarz. Early Childhood

We are incredibly excited about our upcoming Early Childhood year. Led by our terrific co-directors, Mary Passell and Amanda Watsky and an incredible group of teachers it is going to be an amazing year. There are limited openings available so contact Amanda Watsky at amandaw@valleyofthesunj.org.

Community

The Jewish Community Day at the Diamondbacks is August 9 versus the Dodgers. Ticket pricing includes:

Youth (15 & under) tickets are $30 with a free upgrade.

1. Choose from Outfield Reserve (Section 327), Bleachers (Sections 140-141) or Baseline Reserve (Section 134). The other seating options for this offer are not part of the free upgrade.
2. Limit of 2 youth per 1 regular Special Event ticket.

Fitness

The weight room and personal training has been rocking. Just a few reminders:

• Please wear the appropriate attire including closed toe shoes.
• Weight room etiquette – if you put plates on a bar or machine, please remove them when you are done with that piece of equipment.
• Please be considerate of each other – do not take calls, text, etc. while sitting on a piece of equipment.
