Member Update March ’25

Wow, March — which means great weather, the start of the baseball season, and the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments. Let’s have some fun with that! Email me by Thursday at Noon your prediction on who the Final Four teams will be. For each team that you select correctly, we’ll enter one ticket into a raffle for a free month of membership. Also, include who you predict will win the tournament and we’ll enter each winning pick into a second raffle for a free month.

And to some reminders, thoughts, and happenings …

Reminders

  • Please remember to bring your membership card when visiting The J. if you happen to forget it, we’ll ask for a photo ID. Please remember our security team is only “doing their job” when asking. Also, if you have yet to pick up a new lanyard, just stop at the membership desk!
  • When signing up for a Group Ex class, swim lane, and/or Pickleball Court there is most likely someone on a Wait List. If you find you’re unable to attend, please show consideration to others by canceling your reservation
  • Please shower before entering the pool, and when using the fitness center appropriate shoes (closed toe) and clothing are required.
  • The J will be closed on Sunday, April 13, in observance of Passover.

Pickleball Court Lights

Lights for the Pickleball Courts are currently being installed. If all goes well, work should be completed by the third week of April.

Congratulations

To Leslie Pinkelman who was our Heart Month Cardio Challenge Champ!

Shemesh Day Camp

Registration is rolling along and some units on certain weeks are already closed. It’s going to be an amazing summer, and we want your child to be a part of it, so don’t delay, sign up today. Contact Erin with any questions.

Swim Lessons

This is a great time to be thinking about summer fun in the sun and water safety. Whether your child needs to learn to swim or improve their water skills, our Aquatics Team can meet your needs. Contact Cleo to get started. We also offer swim team, masters, and adult lessons.

Referrals

We know there’s nothing better than word-of-mouth marketing. To help you help us, for every member you refer (must sign up for a 12-month membership) you’ll receive one month of membership at no cost. It’s that simple. Please make sure they provide your name as the referral when joining.

Matzah with a Mission

This Passover, turn your matzah into a mitzvah! Beginning Monday, March 31, stop by The J to purchase a box of Emunah Matzah, handcrafted in The Village of Shlomit, and made with wheat from local fields and water from Jerusalem, bringing together the heart of Israel in every bite.

By purchasing Emunah Matzah, you’ll be supporting Yedidya Harush’s matzah factory while he serves in the IDF, and the 55 local workers and their families in the region who are rebuilding their lives.

Community

Temple Solel is hosting a Justa Center event “Meeting the Moment: Understanding and Addressing Older Adult Homelessness” on Wednesday, April 9, at 7pm. Learn more here.

Join the Phoenix Holocaust Association and the Phoenix Symphony for a powerful community-wide Yom HaShoah Holocaust Remembrance Commemoration on Sunday, April 27, at 5p at Phoenix Symphony Hall. RSVP for the free event here.

There’s a lot happening and we look forward to seeing you here at The J. As always, we can’t thank you enough for being a member of our J Family. Please know it’s appreciated and never taken for granted.

Have a great day,

Jay
